Microsoft pulls the plug on ScaleBoundJust nine days into the new year, Microsoft drops the bombshell that Scalebound with not see the light of day.
A Microsoft representative provided the following statement to IGN:
“After careful deliberation, Microsoft Studios has come to the decision to end production for Scalebound. We’re working hard to deliver an amazing lineup of games to our fans this year, including Halo Wars 2, Crackdown 3, State of Decay 2, Sea of Thieves and other great experiences.”
This came as a complete shocker considering that Microsoft has been hyping this game since 2014. ScaleBound was supposed to release by the 2016 holidays however Platinum Games decided to push back the date to ensure the game lived up to expectations. As of now it appears that their expectations were too ambitious.
This is a total bummer as this is one of the games we were excited to get our hands on this year. In fact, we had this is one of out most anticipated games of 2017.
Scalebound was supposed to be one of Xbox’s major exclusives but now its just a pipe dream. This obviously hurts Xbox as the console is dependent on the exclusives it receives to rival PlayStation.
Microsoft needs to pray that other exclusives such as Halo Wars and Crackdown 3 can fill the void. However, it appears that Xbox is off to a rocky start in their 2017 campaign.
