Microsoft dishes out its final specs for Project Scorpio and its more powerful than we thought.
Digital Foundry’s Rich Leadbetter breaks down what they found during their visit with Microsoft. Project Scorpio is expected to be a PlayStation 4 Pro killer in every way.
Digital Foundry was able to see Scorpio in action as they tested the system on the Forza Tech demo.
Sony’s machine is very clever and produces great results in the right hands – and as ever, the quality of the end results depends on how well the software runs, not on waving numbers around. But as far as those numbers go, Scorpio has PS4 Pro licked
During the interview Microsoft went on to say that this build is not only for the fans but also for developers to run their games at the highest level.
“We have to win the hearts and minds of developers,” Ybarra said. “We have to have the right toolset that lets them bring out their games across the whole family of products and let them create the absolute best versions of those games.”
Specs in more detail:
The GPU inside Scorpio contains 40 Radeon compute units running at 1172 MHz, compared to the PS4 Pro’s 911 MHz and the Xbox One’s 853 MHz. On the CPU side, there are eight custom x86 cores at 2.3 GHz, 31 percent faster than the original Xbox One; the PS4 Pro has eight Jaguar cores at 2.1 GHz, while the Xbox One has eight Jaguar cores at 1.75 GHz.
More info will be shared during Microsoft’s E3 press conference which is sure to get much attention.
